Tagging Lambs
POSTED: 14/11/2011 17:18:00
On Wednesday Bez is selling the last of his lambs for this year. There will be around 300 and they will be sold at Bakewell livestock market as store lambs. Another farmer will buy them to fatten on a bit more before selling them on again to a butcher or supermarket. Before going to market the lambs have to be double tagged with electronic tags (yellow and orange on this occassion). Each tag has the farm's flock number plus an individual number on it which will be scanned at market, thus keeping a track of their movements.
