Bakewell is a quaint little market town nestling on the River Wye. On a Monday and Saturday a thriving outdoor market can be found. It is famous for the Bakewell Pudding which was originally made by accident in 1860 by a cook in a local inn (now known as The Rutland Arms). They can still be bought from several of the bakeries found in town.
